Description

:iconarcem-alva:

Is a twin brother to AA: Danzan

Name: Zagan Sansar

Age: 18

Birthday:
26th of Rains

Gender: male

Height: 164 cm /5'4

Race: human

Class: scout

Occupation: Oblate

City: Cantor

Allegiance: Miras Kingdom

Personality:

Hot-headed/ rebellious/ arrogant / unsociable/ grumpy/ stubborn/ aggressive/ distrusting/ appreciative

Unlike his charming brother, Zagan never aims to get people to like him and does everything to keep them as far away from him as possible. He has serious trust issues and finds it hard to believe anyone but his brother, staying cautious even of those people who have miraculously happened to somehow get closer to him.

It is very easy to make him angry, as he lits up as fast as a match. Even though Zagan tries to hold his anger issues at bay in the walls of the Abbey, he puts no effort into acting nice when he goes outside, unless his brother is present. He swears as he breathes and never runs away from a fight if he happens to be dragged into one.

Despite being rather agressive in his attitude, Zagan is surprisingly open-minded. He doesn’t judge people for who they are (simply because he can’t care less about it) and never tries to push his views on the others. While being a completely non-religious person himself, he never speaks poorly of religious people, mostly out of respect for his brother and his choices.

With all that said, it's worth mentioning that Zagan can be grateful to those who have shown him kindness, always looking for ways to repay them.  Even with his heavy lack of faith Zagan enjoys staying in the Abbey and working in it, appreciating the fact that this place has become the first true home for him.

History:

General history:

Danzan and Zagan were a result of a careless crush their mother had on an unreliable man. She put too much trust in his words of their ‘soon marriage’ that were unfulfilled in the end. Being the youngest daughter of a heavily religious farmer family living in a village nearby Cantor, the young woman had to suffer through a lot of humiliation and detest that came not only from other villagers, but from her own family as well. As a result, the woman grew to hate her children long before they were even born.

Considering that they were conceived out of wedlock, the boys were not welcomed in the family at all. However, the religious views that made the family treat the kids poorly were also not allowing them to throw the boys out of their house, since that would throw a shadow on their reputation of ‘good’ people. Therefore, once the boys grew old enough to perform chores, the family started to treat them more like servants, making the boys work for the food they were given.

Their grandparents, uncles, aunts and cousins were giving them a cold treatment, which was bearable as long as the boys would behave and do their work well to avoidpunishment (physical most of the times). Their mother, however, was a furious flame. A single look at the boys was enough to enrage her and even a single hint on misbehavior was followed by a severe punishment, which was always treated byt the rest of the family as well-deserved. The boys were a product of sin, so keeping them from the evil by a twig was a rightful thing to do. What the woman hated the most in her children were their eyes as they were the same as the eyes of the man who has tricked her into shame.

Zagan’s history:

Unlike his ‘humble’ brother, Zagan has always been considered a little devil in his family, with his short temper and rebellious personality. He never found their position in the family fair and was never hesitant in expressing the anger he felt towards the family, for which he was, obviously, getting punished on a daily basis.

Being the least favourite of the twins, Zagan has always been given the hardest work to do and the least amount of food to eat in the family, but was still expected to be grateful for even that. The only person in the family that Zagan loved and saw care from was his twin brother, who always tried to snatch him more food, or treated the injuries he would get from his punishments. In spite of Danzan always trying to convince Zagan to behave for his own good, the rebellious twin would never listen and would only grow more and more uncontrollable every year, which earned him quite an unpleasant reputation not only in the family, but also among the villagers.

As time passed, all of his aunts and uncles left to start their own households and his grandparents died of all age. That was making Zagan feel like he was breaking out of his mother’s control more and more each passing year, which was angering the woman reciprocally, until one day she went entirely insane, jumping at him with a knife, accusing him of things he has never done in his life. The teen tried to struggle with the woman, but was unsuccessful and in a short moment  he found himself laying on the floor, with his mother  arching over him. The sharp tip of her knife was the last thing his right eye would see.

From that moment Zagan’s memories became a mess, with short glimpses of the view of his brother strangling his mother and their house burning breaking through immense pain. Despite the effort his brother put in treating his wounds, they still got infected so the next few days after the accident Zagan has spent in fever and once his mind was finally clear again he found himself in the Cantor Abbey, healed, but scarred and lacking an eye. When his brother announced his decision to stay, Zagan silently accepted it and asked for a permission to become and oblate in the abbey only so he could stay by his brother’s side.

Additional info:

- Zagan pretty much illiterate. He has basic skills of writing and reading, thanks to his brother teaching him, but they are very lacking and he does both very slowly, making mistakes in almost every word he's trying to write.

- Not willing to bring up the events of the tragic evening when he lost his eye at first, Zagan slowly grew more comfortable with his past and now can speak of it more willingly if asked.

- He is physically stronger than his brother, but is shorter and has got weaker health due to the small difference in the upbringing they had.

Relationships:

Danzan Sansar – twin brother. The only person that Zagan loves unconditionally and trusts completely. While he used to act like a  loyal dog to Danzan, with time Zagan learned to see flaws in his brother's behaviour as well, though that never stopped him from caring about his twin any less. Recently though, hestarted to feel rather envious about Danzan finding his path is life. Zagan also wishes to find a purpose and tries to build his future without Danzan's involvement.
